I got the Rival SCVC604HSS 6 Qt. Removable Crock Pot Slow Cooker just a few weeks ago, and already love it! Everything I have made in it so far–pot roast, lettuce wraps, chicken soup, and even an entire chicken–turned out unimaginably delicious and never burnt! My fiancee and I were impressed by how juicy and tender this appliance leaves meat, allowing it to simply fall off the bone. I also love the fact that the lid and pot itself are dishwasher-safe, which makes clean up a breeze. I haven’t had any problems with the temperature gauges being “off” or not working properly.

The only thing I’d like to change about this product is allowing the timer to be set using 15-minute intervals rather than 30-minute intervals, to allow for more precise cooking. But, that’s just a minor complaint and something I can easily work around. Happy cooking!

Cooking a Tri-Tip roast from frozen?

I forgot to pull it out of the freezer this morning, and i wanna cook it tonight, peferably in a crock-pot…can i have this done and in less than 3 hours? or around that? It's 2.43 lbs.

Fully adjustable slow cooker?

I am looking for a slow cooker with these specifications:
1:fully adjustable thermostat from off degrees to — upper temerperature doesnt matter…it just needs to go down to off degrees and any temperature in between. (specificly i need to be able to set it at 130 degrees.)

2: the inner portion that contains the food must be glass, ceramic or stainless steel…no teflon

size doesnt matter – although small is better than huge
doesnt matter if the inner pot is removeable or not

Debating on what size slow cooker to buy?

I want to buy a slow cooker.. it will only be used for 2 people. I saw at the store theres a small one that's like 1.5q. i know im mainly going to be using it for chicken breast recipes so i think that size is fine considering its only for 2serving.. but my boyfriend likes things like ribs and ive found some slow cooker rib recipes so should I just buy a bigger one for when i need the extra room? My only concern with buying a bigger one is that i know majority of the time Ill only be needing enough space that the little one offers so if i make something small will it still cook normally in a bigger crock pot if im only filling it up halfway…if that?

There are so many great slow cooker recipes out there, but a lot of them require you to brown your meat, then transfer to the slow cooker and cook on, say “low for 9 hours”. Can I use my dutch oven in a similar way so I can just use the one pot for everything? It seems much more practical to brown the food in the pot you're going to use so you don't lose the flavor from the stuff that sticks to the pan. If this does work, what temperatures in the oven would I substitute for 'low' and 'high'?

hello,

i want to cook about 6 skinless chicken thighs (2.2 lbs) in my crockpot. i have an onion, carrots, potatoes, red bell pepper, & celery. i'm wanting to use broth bc i'm tired of the cream soup stuff.

**disclaimer – i know nothing about cooking so pardon my dumb questions**

questions:
1. should i brown the thighs 1st? if so, how long on each side
2. chicken on top of the veggies or under?
3. how much broth should i use? i'm not trying to make a soup
4. how long for a low setting and how long for a high setting?
