Any opinions on the Rival 6 quart smartpot slow cooker?

I told my boyfriend I wanted a crock pot for Christmas, but he needs to know which one to get. I'm thinking about telling him to get me the Rival smartpot slow cooker. Does anyone have any opinions on how good or bad this one is?

I have a Rival Smartpot (6 qt.) and I use it often for cooking large batches for my family. I love it. The "smartpot" aspect is nice but not essential. However, if you are just cooking for you and your boyfriend you may want to consider a smaller crockpot. I also have a 4 (or 4.5?) qt crockpot that I use when I am just cooking a regular size meal. I find that most crockpot recipes are for the smaller size and cook too quickly in my smartpot. A good rule of thumb is that the food should fill at least half to 2/3 of the crock. Any less and you will need to shorten your cooking time. Good Luck!

I don't have one, but based on these answers, I will get one soon! I have been looking at it for a couple of months. Thanks for posting the question.

All I can say is get one that (1) has a removable crock for easy clean-up and (2) get one that has a "keep warm" setting, so once your food is cooked, you dont' have to keep cooking it, but can keep it hot to serve later. Oh, (3) must have a glass lid, (for the weight of it) to hold in moisture.

The smart pot is great in that it will keep your food warm until you are ready to eat. You can't go wrong with this one and it's dishwasher safe. Works for me!
